Hope sighed tiredly as he
flopped down on his bed, still fully clothed except for the boots he
left haphazardly on the living room. With one arm covering his eyes,
he contemplated at the series of events that took place today—it
all started with Lightning and ended with Lightning.
Groaning out of
frustration, Hope flung a pillow across the room until it hit the
guiltless closet door. He half-wished the closet would break down. Or
maybe he should have thrown it to the mirror, just to see if it would
shatter under the contact. At the time, Hope just wanted to break
something, to rip apart something, or any other kind of violence to
channel his anger.
“Is there really no way
to make her understand?” he yelled to the hollow darkness. Tears
pricked at the corners his eyes, which he quickly rubbed away, but
more came and he rubbed and rubbed until his eyes got red. Hope took
a shaky breath, trying hard but futilely to contain his emotions.
“Etro,” he cursed.
Lightning was being
irrational. Hope was being irrational. When they clashed, all hell
broke loose. He had left the heated argument rather childishly, with
an indignant yell and loud steps, while Lightning threatened him to
stay angrily. He of course refused to listen and instead lock himself
away in his apartment. Anger still filled him to the brim, and he was
having a hard time stopping himself from smashing his fist on the
wall.
“If only I could make
her understand...!”
A/N: honestly I don't even know what's going on, I just want to see someone act out in frustration in my stead, so yes I'm sorry if Hope is ooc here
Thank you for writing this drabbles. I'm enjoying every second of them.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your concern that Hope might be OOC, I don't think Hope is out of character. Consider...
He's very emotional; we see that in XIII. He's learned to use his emotions as motivation by XIII-2 which is why he appears calm. There's still an emotional storm brewing below the facade though, and we see that at the end of the game while he's trying to figure out what happened/why they failed. The Reminiscence novella shows he's still ruled by his emotions no matter how controlled he appears to outsiders. How else do we explain the phantom's success?
I think you captured his "angry at Lightning" mindset very well. Hope is the only person in the entire trilogy to go nose to nose with Light and get his way without being knocked into next year.
